Substitute “damn” every time you’re inclined to write “very”; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.

Haha! I remember a former professor explaining that if we had to use “very” then we weren’t using a strong enough adjective. Leave it Mark Twain to come up with a “very” good solution to removing this from our writing 🙂
🙂 I am trying to write my next post without using “very”. The stress is on trying. It is actually a reflection of lazy writing because instead of looking for a strong adjective, we often use “very” to make an adjective look bigger than it is.
I wrote a whole post today (775 words) without using a single very. 🙂 Yes!
Love it. I say very and really all the time I try not to do it when writing prose but always fail VERY badly
Really is another candidate. But the post today did not have a single really either. Was I good today! 🙂 Mark Twain would have been proud of, or so I tell myself.
Damn, that’s good advice!
